Last night at work, I encountered my first confrontation for the July 2k15 season.
I’ll fast foward through the ridiculous, and only talk abouT what happened after a few guests decided to break hotel policies and their reaction upon receiving their consequences.
After talking to my girlfriend, I understand that a lot of people don’t like consequences. The first thing that a person will do is use their status or position to put someone down.
Yes, you may be an “attorney”, Sir…But our contract became null as soon as you breached the contract and decided to go against hotel policies, in not only one of your rooms, but both.
Another thing someone might do is use their physical power to intimidate.
Yes sir, you are taller than me and I am cornered in your room.. so I’m going to slide out and give you the option of the cops or myself. So you choose the cops…
People assume things far too much…
Yes sir, I have a ring on my ring finger, so that obviously means i’m a heterosexual female that has a husband or boyfriend
Far too much
No, just because I picked up my cellphone to call my general manager for some help in this situation, does not mean I am calling my boyfriend to come beat you up
But regardless, they’ll twist the situation to make sure they don’t appear to be wrong in the situation.
Officer, we have her on VIDEO saying that she is going to have her boyfriend come beat us up!
No, you dont, you actually have a video of me on my cellphone, shaking, listening to 36 seconds of ringing.
But once they realize, this might not go their way.. bring on the personal attacks..
You couldnt even get a boyfriend, youre fat. youre ugly. you have a mole on your face. youre disgusting. Not even attractive. We have nothing to lose, you already called the cops on us, so we might as well be as rude as we can.
Yes, thats a great idea!
So if that video goes viral, let it.. Because what are we really missing when we see video clips? The whole picture?
There may be more police brutality that didn’t get caught on film…There might be more to that girlfight that seemed so hilarious to you at the moment.
There’s always a bigger picture.
So, my self esteem might be bruised, and I might be feeling more than unimpressed with last nights situation, but I’m proud that I remained as professional as I could, provided how quickly these men escalated.
This is the world, as I know it.. as I experience it.
